My Year in the Country

I am the light of my adopted parents' life after generously allowing them to take me home. I adopted them at Hoboken Animal Hospital where I was having a "spa treatment" (deworming, ear mite removal, and minor plastic surgery after my injured tail was removed) because they looked so pathetic when they saw me. Now these two have gone off to China to teach English for a year, so I currently reside with the adopted grandparentals until they return. They live in the country, so there are lots of new things to see and do. I have agreed to pose for many endearing pictures and to recount my days' events here for all to purr over.
Meow.

My Paw Is Bigger Than Your Paw

Cody and I look adorable here having our little tete-a-tete. He is a good buddy, but I might just have to gnaw on that hand of his if he holds it there much longer. Too tempting!
Last week there was a BIG rainstorm right over our house with TERRIBLE claps of thunder. I slithered and slinked along the floor as fast as I could to hide under Cullen's bed where I stayed safe and sound for hours until Ma coaxed me out. Tummy was hungry, too.

A Happy Reunion!

Cullen returned from China on July 4th!!!, and I greeted him with due kitty kat dignity. Actually I was absolutely delighted to see him and did not do my usual quivery quake and run routine when a stranger comes into the house. Nonetheless, I must not show too much enthusiasm so as to keep him on his toes and willing to meet my every wish and need. Catnip, please!

I really am happy to see him here, really!

Harmonic, Karmic, Cosmic Achievement

The Big People have done it at last! It was years in the making, but they have finally attained furniture-layout bliss in the family room!!
It makes for easier navigation for me as I now have a direct shot down to my...

sleepy-bye spot. Meow!

UFO, Oh, NO!

My eyes are glowing after my encounter with aliens last night. They tried to put a spell on me in order to study my feline physique, but I kickboxed them back to outerspace. No one messes with my beautiful belly! I'm lookin good!!

And One and Two...

Rah! Rah!, Ma.!! You can do it...push up that flab and give me ten more!!!

Poor Ma has been attempting her push ups so that she can keep up with me now that I have streamlined my saddlebags. Don't tell her, but she doesn't stand a chance, poor thing. But do notice how well she dresses for her routine! Actually, she has just come home from work and doesn't have the common sense to change her clothes.

Sometimes I distract her by doing adorable things like stretching out into the shape of a banjo, and sometimes I like to crawl underneath her when she is in mid push. Then she has to do some quick adjusting so that she doesn't crush me with her bulk. This keeps her agile.

We celebrate the completion of her puny attempt at feline fitness by crossing our paws and smiling for the camera. Nap time!

Cat's Eyes

Notice how everyone chases after purrfection? Divine eyes r'I, but the rest of you folks
will just have to use Maybelline! Meow!! Maria's really looking cat-cute!!

Here's Pa and Maria on the latest trek to Boston. This time the big folks left me in Cody's charge, so there were no scary catsitter visitations. Purr.
Ma looks crazy, like a cat. She's got great fangs....also claws, but they're good for scratching me under my chin. I was glad to see my "familiars" return. I miss you.

Just Hangin' Around

Thought you'd like some more pix of me doing what I do best. But wait - now that my diet is working, I have discovered new heights! My "saddlebags" are lighter, so I have made the giant leap up to the kitchen counter - territory never before explored! Today I lounged on the counter under the warm lights while Ma chopped stuff for dinner. It was cozy. Ma has given up quickly on making me get down. Victory!
By the way, how do you like my goldfish? Aren't they adorable? I might enjoy swatting at them, myself, but you can "feed" them by clicking your cursor. You can also make them follow your cursor around, like the dopey things they are. Not like me - you can't make me do that!

I Am On A Diet!

When a sunbeam calls, I answer it. So what if maybe that then inspires a little nap or two. Wouldn't you do the same? Now the alarm bells have gone off in the big peoples' heads because they think that I am packing extra saddlebags. Hummpph.

I do my stretches and catisthenics...

I work out on my scratchy "treadmill"

and I do Greco-Roman wrestling followed by...

cuddle time.
That should burn a few calories, right? Nevertheless, and less is the operative word here, I am now receiving smaller portions of my beloved chow. Pitiful me. But perhaps a sleeker me is heading your way. We'll see.

Hi, I'm Back and so is the Snow!

It was pretty white yesterday, but I was cozy warm inside while Ma and Pa shoveled and cleaned off the cars. They were both home from work thanks to the snowfall. I hear China is cold, cold, cold. Same here.

There's Something Under The Tree

There are lovely packages under the tree, particularly the furry one!

Hmmm....this one seems to have my name on it.

Okay, if you insist...rrrrrippp, teeeeeaarrrrrr. Merry Christmas to me! and you, too!

Home for the Holidays

Oh, holy night...here I am contemplating the glowing candlelit view from my perch atop Big Ma's piano. She has been busy decorating my house with red and green thingies now. Big Pa has been out on the ladder a lot cleaning gutters and putting up lights. My, my...they never rest.
Sometimes when I walk across the electric piano I accidentally step on the on switch. So far I haven't played a tune, but Ma found the glowing red light on a few times. I must practice my Nutcracker Suite for the holidays.
This is the route I take to get down off the piano. Why jump directly down and jar my bones when I can slink along table tops and...

jump over furniture before...

landing squarely on Ma's toes. I am holding her down so that she will have to bend down and pet me. I missed the Big People when they were away on vacation, so I've been busy purring and getting a lot of attention. I miss you, too!

Yarn is Fun!

While mommy cat naps, little kitty enjoys playing with the ball of yarn. That would be me! One morning Cocosampal found a big mound of tangled yarn in the hallwaywhen he came back from exercising. The trail of yarn lead to a room where a crazy knitted cap was underway. He told Big Ma about it, but she was too lazy as usual to do anything about it except to put the mound right back where I had found it in the first place. She will never learn that way, will she? Meow and purr to you!

Waiting to Pounce

Beware, feet and ankles that dare pass me! I am upstairs waiting for someone to come out of that bedroom that is off limits to me. I have been allowed in during the day to explore, but one time I got in at night and bounced around on the bed and found interesting lumpies to bite that turned out to be Big Ma's toes, so she showed me the door. I just wait outside patiently until one of the boring folks gets up early. It's dark when they get up, and I am usually lying right in front of their door, so they better watch their steps! Hhmmm...maybe I better watch my own hide. What are you doing right now?

Dell KO'd

Whoa! The Big People are outta luck because their idiot box has finally bit the dust. I have to say I liked to walk across its keyboard and lie in front of the monitor when the BP were tapping away on it, and I will miss its cozy electric warmth and lowkey buzz. Plus it's the means by which I say I Love You to you!

Right now they are using Cocosampal's laptop, but they have ordered a new idiot box. They are sorry that they are not online as much or available on Skype right now to talk to you. They ARE looking for emails from you and new postings on your blog, though. Me, too...meow. I love you.

There's White Stuff Now

I awoke this morning to the sights and sounds of things going on outside. My keen eyesight saw that there were a lot of white flying saucers coming in for a landing around our house!!! I was told that it is snow - of course, I knew that. Big Ma was excited because she likes snow, but she said it was rather early in the season. In any case, the snow is doing a good job of covering things up.

Even the orange blobby thingie outside is wearing a snowcap.

Big Ma's car is covered, and she said she wouldn't drive in this weather. Even the plumber who was supposed to come today cancelled because the roads are so bad.

Ma couldn't leave if she wanted to because the driveway is covered by lilac bushes that broke from the weight of the snow.

Here are more broken branches from the maple tree. Big Ma had to drag them in off the road. You'll notice that there's no traffic on the road because the police had closed it by our house. A car was being loaded onto a wrecker up the hill from us.

Our lights have dimmed and gone off a number of times because a snow-laden branch is weighing down our lower power line which you can see in the picture. Big Ma's fur got all electric over this, and she called the power company right away. ...they have not come yet.

It's a very pretty sight, but Ma spent a long time outside knocking the wet, heavy snow off various trees and bushes. There are many broken lilac branches by the driveway and in the side yard.

More Orange Blobbies

Everything is so orange here!
Actually, orange offsets my own beautiful coloring nicely, don't you think? You'll notice that some of those orange blobby things have smiley faces on them.

They are just waiting for me to play with them, so I give them a good SWAT with my paw when inspired and other times I play with them like soccer balls and send them flying.

This one thought it could get away from me. Orange blobby thing, feel my wrath! In truth, I am giving blobby a gentle hug.

Too much play leads to exhaustion. My big blobby orange thingie keeps me company when I snooze.

Orange Thingies

Meow... Orange blobby things have started appearing around the house. I don't know what to make of them, but I aim to find out!

Hmm....let me check out these leafy things and those bright shiny lights first.

The logs in the fireplace are wobbly. Plus, I can't reach those orange thingies from here!

Oh, well. Time to rest. I'll have to investigate more after a nap or two. Purr.
